Podcasting: From Virtual Instruction to Podcasting Studio
Rachael Clemens & Karen Howell
Presentation Slide Show (PPT)
Exactly what is podcasting? And would it serve a useful purpose in your library setting? Here are two ideas: how about delivering library instruction to users through a podcast or setting up a podcast studio in the library for your users?
Join Rachael Clemens, Distance Education Librarian at Cal State University Fullerton and Karen Howell, Director of Leavey Library at USC as they present some of the mechanics and applications of podcasting. Karen will describe a pilot project in which a podcasting studio has been designed in the library where students can create podcasts for their course assignments. Hear about some of the challenges, user feedback and future plans surrounding the establishment of this service. Rachael will detail a pilot project in delivering library instruction via video and audio podcasts. Sample instruction episodes, equipment options, costs, time investment and user response will be described.
